Upcoming May meeting for the NIH BRAIN Initiative Multi-Council Working Group

The next virtual NIH BRAIN Multi-Council Working Group meeting will be held on Monday, May 16, 2021. Please joins us for the open meeting session available on videocast.  

Next week, the BRAIN Multi-Council Working Group (MCWG) will hold it’s twenty-second meeting to discuss the ongoing progress of the NIH BRAIN Initiative. Dr. John Ngai, NIH BRAIN Initiative Director, will open the discussion with updates on the current state of the Initiative, including information on the NIH BRAIN budget, upcoming annual BRAIN Initiative Meeting, Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives (PEDP) progress, new developments and funding opportunities associated with the BRAIN 2.0 Transformative Projects, and the most recent BRAIN demographics data analyses (the FY14-FY20 BRAIN Initiative Investigator Demographics data are available here).  

Next, Dr. Hank Greely, Neuroethics Working Group (NEWG) Co-Chair, will present updates on current activities of the BRAIN NEWG, including an upcoming virtual workshop to address continuing trial responsibilities for participants of implanted neural device trials. The session will also feature a presentation on new chemical and synthetic biology technologies from one of the newest MCWG members, Dr. Bryan Roth (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill).
