Please join us for two virtual NIH BRAIN Initiative meetings tomorrow and Friday. Videocast will be available for the open meeting sessions.
Neuroethics Working Group Meeting – Thursday, August 19, 2021
Tomorrow, the Neuroethics Working Group (NEWG) will hold its twelfth meeting. Input from the NEWG helps to ensure that neuroethics is fully integrated into the BRAIN Initiative. First, Dr. John Ngai, NIH BRAIN Initiative Director, will update the group on the current state of the Initiative. The meeting will feature a presentation by Dr. Christine Grady, Senior Investigator and Chief of the NIH Department of Bioethics, on key issues in compensation of research participation. Next, Dr. Daniel Miller, NINDS Program Director, will discuss possible incentives to diversify brain tissue samples used in research supported by BRAIN.
Multi-Council Working Group Meeting – Friday, August 20, 2021
On Friday, the Multi-Council Working Group (MCWG) will hold its twentieth meeting to discuss the current state of BRAIN. Dr. Ngai will provide the group with updates along with highlights of the newest BRAIN-funded research. Dr. Samantha White, Chief of the NINDS Scientific and Public Engagement Branch, will summarize the annual BRAIN Initiative Investigators Meeting, which was held virtually in June. NIH BRAIN staff will also present a new concept for funding on brain behavior quantification and synchronization.
Meeting summaries and archived videocasts will be made available in the near future.
